Holi!

We were lucky enough to be in Bhopal for the festival called "Holi!". This five day celebration involves a mass throwing of colours, in both liquid and powder form. On the first night of the festival many people arrange a 'Holika' from huge piles of firewood they've collected. These are then burned along with offerings of food and small trinkets in order to cleanse evil from people's lives and kick off the festivial.

Let the five days of colour or 'gulal' throwing commence!

We were again invited out to Mukesh's place in Islamnagar to celebrate 'Rangpanchami' the fifth and last day of festivities.

This is after we were splashed with a big bucket of pink dye while walking along the street...this pink colour took two 30-minute sessions of intense scrubbing  to get it off our skin and it stayed in our hair for weeks after.

A crew of blue skinned boys mobbed our rickshaw.

Here we are back at the clinic with our French buddy Laurent, after our day of Holi festivities.
