Kinky Khajuraho

After our 3 weeks in Bhopal we headed to the little temple town of Khajuraho, in the northeast of Madhya Pradesh. There were originally 85 temples here, however only 25 survived a Muslim siege in 1947. The temples here were particularly offensive to the Muslims as they found them 'adulterous' due to the many erotic carvings, depicting men and women in various Kama Sutra poses. Perhaps you can spot some of these scandalous carvings in our photos.

This statue, in the centre of one of the temples, is said to have the head of Shiva, the body of Krishna and the legs of  Vishnu.

This temple seemed like a bit of an 'odd one out'.
