Next on the south Thailand tour was the small village of Khao Nah Nai. Chelsea's brother and Mom had volunteered here the previous year, so we went to see where they stayed and the people they met. It was nice to take a break from the tourist trail for awhile. We met many very friendly people here, who hosted us generously, even though a large language barrier kept us from communicating much. We were kept well fed and given a place to stay. They also took us to do some sightseeing in the area. Our first stop was Khao Sok National Park. We went for a short walk around the entrance area of the park, and even in this small space we saw many fascinating botanical specimens, including four different kinds of orchids.
Here are two of the teachers at the school Chelsea's brother volunteered at, Kat and Chao-kuai.
Next we went to a beautiful resort at the base of a cliff for some lunch.
Rambutan tree.
Next we visited the family who hosted Chelsea's mom and brother...a new additional has since been made to their family. Her name is Ayss.
Their pet pig.
They also took us to an enormous dam outside the town.
