Marvelous Mysore

Mysore was our first stop in a new state, Karnataka. Mysore was an important city in south India historically. It was here that a very powerful family of rajas built an amazing palace, near the center of town. We toured the city by rickshaw, snapping photos all the while.

Frank had an bit of stomach troubles at one point. Fortunatley it was very short, and we were back to the sightseeing in less than 24 hours..

Raja Krishnawadayar's huge palace, built in the nineteenth century after a fire destroyed the previous palace.

After the palace we stopped by a museum about the Indian Railway.

Next we paid a visit to the Bazaar.

Rolling up some sandalwood incense sticks.
The vegetable-wallahs.

Our friends Aya and Keith, who we knew from Vancouver. They also happened to be in Mysore, and we met up by chance when we all were in the same internet cafe. We went sightseeing together around Mysore.

In addition to the palace, Mysore has a well-maintained, clean lake and park.
